Rooted in centuries-old East Asian medicine, gua sha is a therapeutic scraping technique used to relieve pain, restore mobility, and promote recovery. Traditionally, smooth-edged tools are used to apply firm, gliding strokes over lubricated skin, helping to release muscle tension, break up fascial adhesions, and encourage healthy blood flow to injured or overworked areas.

Our porcelain “OG” spoons are designed for musculoskeletal therapy, perfect for addressing stiff necks, tight shoulders, sore backs, and other areas of chronic tension. Their smooth ceramic surface glides easily over the skin, while the curved edges allow you to target both broad muscle groups and precise trigger points.

How to Use:

  1. Apply a small amount of massage oil, balm, or liniment to the area being treated.

  2. Hold the spoon at a 30–45° angle to the skin.

  3. Using moderate, steady pressure, stroke in one direction along the muscle fibers or across the tight area.

  4. Work until you see mild redness (“sha”), which indicates increased circulation.

  5. Avoid broken skin, varicose veins, or areas with acute injury/bruising.

Use gua sha as part of your recovery routine to relieve pain, improve mobility, and keep muscles performing at their best, from the clinic table to post-workout self-care.  Partner with our Tame the Pain Herbal Whip for best results.
